Linz City Council & teamecho

Logo Magistrat Linz

A strong corporate culture needs strong feedback. Ulrike Huemer, Municipal Director of the City of Linz, is convinced of this – and introduced teamecho as a continuous feedback tool 1.5 years ago. With a mix of digital and analog communication, the city council is able to become more efficient and modern internally and offer employees an attractive workplace.

Modernization of the corporate culture

Hierarchical, bureaucratic, historically grown: this is how traditional city administrations are known. Linz City Council proves that these attributions are not set in stone.

When a corporate strategy was recently defined for Linz City Council, it quickly became clear that the focus must also be on the topics of employee orientation and corporate culture. In addition to perseverance and passion, this also requires a well-functioning feedback culture, said municipal director Ulrike Huemer. Digital and analog.

Digital & analog in tandem

Since November 2021, Linz City Council has therefore been relying on continuous, digital feedback with teamecho. In 5 of the 15 divisions, employees receive an anonymous short survey every two weeks. An intelligent algorithm asks the right questions at the right time. This makes it possible to continuously track how the mood in the team is developing and whether the measures taken are having the desired effect.

But the “analog” exchange is not neglected in the magistrate’s office either. Great importance is attached to open dialog. In addition to the classic staff meetings, this also includes chatting in the corridor or in the kitchen. This means that requests can also be addressed personally in a very low-threshold atmosphere.

Honest feedback, that you can work with

teamecho helps the magistrate to create space for honest feedback that can be worked with. This includes not only praise, but also addressing things that are not going so well.

The biggest aha moment? How many valuable, well-considered comments are made and that employees never tire of taking part in the surveys. For this reason, further divisions are to be involved step by step.

“I would motivate everyone to get involved in this topic and to put energy and resources into it. I believe that a corporate culture can develop positively through teamecho and that it needs this mix of digital and analog,” says Ulrike Huemer.

Feedback is extremely important in a corporate culture. It’s important to talk about the things you like, but also about the things that aren’t going so well. teamecho offers a very, very good tool for establishing a feedback culture.
